As the parent of a child who has cancer, we know that your mind is filled with questions. Here you'll find answers to some of the questions parents of cancer patients frequently ask. Of course the best place to look for answers about your own child is with your child's treatment team. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you talk to the doctor or nurse. If you don't understand what they tell you, tell them, and ask them to help you understand. Keep a notebook with you to write down questions whenever you think of them, and write down the answers, too, so you can refer to them later. Don't feel embarrassed if you need help with some of the terms they use. This may be the first time you have had a discussion about cancer with a doctor, but it isn't the first time for the doctor to talk about it. If the doctor cares about you and your child, the doctor will want you to ask questions and to understand the treatment process. You are an important part of that process, and you will need to understand your role.
